Helen Hayes Hospital Appoints New Medical Records Director

Helen Hayes Hospital has announced the appointment of Janet Murgittroyd as Director of Medical Records. She will be responsible for managing the patient records of the rehabilitation hospital, according to Virgil Ennis, Chief Information Officer.

Ms. Murgittroyd brings to her new assignment over 30 years of expertise in the medical records field. She joins Helen Hayes from Columbus Hospital LTACH in Newark, New Jersey, where she served as the director of medical records for the long term acute care facility. She has also served in a range of positions with increasing responsibility at Hoboken University Medical Center, Christ Hospital in Jersey City, St. Vincent’s Cancer Center in New York City and The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Ms. Murgittroyd earned a bachelor’s degree from Nyack College. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and is a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

Helen Hayes Hospital is one of the nation’s leading specialty physical rehabilitation centers, caring for patients with brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke, and cardiac, neurological and orthopedic disorders. Founded in 1900, it is operated by the New York State Department of Health and is affiliated with The NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System. It has 155 inpatient beds, a comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation service, as well as many specialized therapeutic programs and services. In 1980, the hospital was renamed in honor of the Broadway and film actress Helen Hayes, who served on the Board of Visitors at the hospital from 1944 until her death in 1993.
