HELEN HAYES HOSPITAL TO OFFER FREE BONE HEALTH SEMINAR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH

West Haverstraw, NY – Helen Hayes Hospital will offer a free Bone Health Seminar for community members in the hospital’s Noyes Conference Center on Thursday, November 16th from 10am-1pm. The program, presented by the New York State Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Program located at the hospital, will provide information on maintaining bone health and preventing osteoporosis and other injuries.

Three million people in New York State have osteoporosis or low bone mass. The mission of the New York State Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Program headquartered at Helen Hayes Hospital is to educate all New Yorkers about the causes of this bone condition, the importance of preventative measures and early detection, and the variety of treatments available.

The Bone Health Seminar will cover topics such as nutritional guidelines for promoting stronger bones, osteoporosis risk factors, and preventing falls and fractures. The most current treatment methods including exercise and osteoporosis medications will also be discussed. The seminar will be presented by Shari Silverstein, RN, MS, Osteoporosis Nurse Educator; Michelle Mosner, RD, CDN, Osteoporosis Nutrition Educator; and Kim Jordan, MA, Health Educator.
