Prosthetic Orthotic Center Awarded American Board for Certification Accreditation

The Helen Hayes Hospital Prosthetic Orthotic Center proudly announces a Three-Year Accreditation award in Orthotics and Prosthetics by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC).

Helen Hayes Hospital’s Prosthetic Orthotic Center is recognized for achievements in the areas of Organizational Management, Patient Care Standards, Quality Assurance, Supplier Compliance and Facility and Safety Management.  This award represents the highest level of accreditation achievable in the profession of orthotics and prosthetics.

The Prosthetic Orthotic Center has demonstrated its commitment to the provision of quality patient care services by seeking and attaining ABC accreditation and is proud to be among over 2500 accredited patient care facilities in the United States.

The Center is fully staffed by a team of ABC  prosthetists, orthotists and technicians who have extensive experience working with both adult and pediatric patients.  Staff members pursue ongoing training in the most advanced technology, including microprocessor knees, myoelectrics, scoliosis, graphite systems and silicone suspension technology.

The staff work closely with every patient to insure proper fit, comfort and function of every device.  Patients and their family members are educated in the proper use, care and function of the prosthesis or orthosis and are closely followed for any necessary adjustments or modifications.
