“The CARF survey team commented on the outstanding reputation Helen Hayes Hospital has as being a leader of rehab hospitals all over the country,” said the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Edmund J. Coletti. “This recent on-site visit highlighted the excellent care our patients receive and showcased our extraordinary, state-of-the art facility.”

Within the accreditation report, surveyors highlighted a large number of hospital strengths, including the excellent patient-centered care provided by the hospital’s experienced clinical staff members; the wide variety of community outreach programs offered by the hospital, including those that advocate for disabled individuals, aid in the adjustment to disability, and promote injury prevention; the incredibly effective team communication channels present at the hospital which allow for the comprehensive alignment of patient care towards goals; the hospital’s full-service onsite prosthetic and orthotic lab and fabrication suite; the hospital’s Smart Apartment, which provides a high-tech model of a home fitted with rehabilitative technology solutions; the culture of continuous learning present among clinicians and other staff at the hospital; and the wellness programs offered at the hospital for patients and community members, including adaptive sports, support groups, a gym, meditation and more.

“This accreditation highlights our incredibly dedicated and experienced clinical staff, our commitment to providing effective, evidence-based rehab options, and our dedication to providing our patients with a comprehensive continuum of care—all of which contribute to our consistently excellent outcomes and overwhelmingly positive reviews,” said Dr. Marjorie King, the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer.
