Hospital Offers Power Soccer Clinic for All Ages Saturday, December 2, 2017

November 29, 2017

West Haverstraw, NY – The Adapted Sports and Recreation Program at Helen Hayes Hospital will offer a power soccer intro clinic on Saturday, December 2nd from 10:30am-1:00pm at the West Haverstraw Municipal Center at 130 Samsondale Avenue. Power wheelchair users of all ages from throughout the community are invited to try out this fast-paced take on traditional soccer.

Introduced 20 years ago as the first sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users, power soccer is played indoors on a gymnasium basketball court. Using special foot guards attached to their wheelchairs, players spin-kick a 13-inch soccer ball up and down the court in a game that maintains all of the excitement and skill requirements of traditional soccer.

This program is being presented with the generous support of the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation, which has provided foot guards and bumpers for attendees to use during the games. The Foundation advances the mission and strategic objectives of Helen Hayes Hospital through the development of resources and community awareness.

Registration is required for this free program. Contact Robert Lombardi at 845-786-4814 or robert.lombardi@helenhayeshospital.org.
