November 3, 2014

Howard Zucker, M.D., J.D., Acting Commissioner of the New York State Department of Health, has announced the appointment of Edmund J. Coletti as Chief Executive Officer of Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw.

Mr. Coletti previously served the rehabilitation hospital from 2001 through 2008 as Senior Vice President of Operations and Director of Facilities Management. During this time, he made significant contributions to both the hospital’s campus and facilities, as well as its clinical operations, including the refurbishment of patient units, the implementation of a new campus-wide way-finding system, the development of new hospital branding and the implementation of an electronic medical record system.

Mr. Coletti rejoins Helen Hayes from the Hudson Valley Hospital Center, where he most recently served as Vice President of Operations. In addition to overseeing a major modernization and expansion project, he was responsible for the Hospital’s rehabilitation medicine department. Previously, Mr. Coletti served the New York Power Authority in various capacities over 16 years.

Mr. Coletti received his Master of Science degree from Polytechnic University and his Bachelor of Science degree SUNY Albany. He is a resident of Mohegan Lake, New York.

“I am honored to be appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Helen Hayes Hospital,” says Mr. Coletti. “I know first-hand that the Hospital provides extraordinary rehabilitation care and that the staff is dedicated to maximizing the recovery of each and every patient. I’m looking forward to working with all of the clinical and operational teams to further the mission of the Hospital and ensure that everyone who can benefit from our inpatient and outpatient services is able to access our multiple levels of care.”

“Mr. Coletti brings a wealth of knowledge, skill and expertise to his new position,” says Dr. Zucker, “which will undoubtedly be an asset to Helen Hayes Hospital.”

Helen Hayes Hospital is one of the nation’s leading specialty physical rehabilitation centers, helping individuals recover from traumatic injuries and disabling illnesses, including spinal cord and brain injury, stroke and amputation. Founded in 1900, the Hospital is operated by the New York State Department of Health and is affiliated with The NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System. In 1980, the hospital was renamed in honor of the Broadway and film actress Helen Hayes, who served on the Board of Visitors from 1944 until her death in 1993.
