VISITATION POLICY
The Helen Hayes Hospital mission and goal are always to keep patients, their loved ones and the staff safe. At any time that the Hospital determines there would be a concern for you or your loved one’s safety, the Hospital has the right to immediately intervene and stop the visit.
- Visitors who are experiencing any signs of illness, such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, diarrhea, or vomiting, should not visit until the illness has resolved.
- Visitors who have been recently diagnosed with COVID-19 should not visit until 10 days have passed since their COVID-19 diagnosis, in accordance with CDC recommendations for healthcare settings.
- Visitors who have had a recent close contact with someone with COVID-19 and who cannot tolerate continuously wearing a mask, should not visit until 10 days have passed since their last contact, in accordance with CDC recommendations for healthcare settings.
Signage within the facility provides information on the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention. Please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New York State Department of Health (DOH) websites for the latest information:

Visitors are encouraged to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and stay up-to-date with COVID-19 boosters.
Visiting hours are 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day.
Two visitors are permitted at a time. Visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors must check out at the front desk before leaving to open up availability for the next visitors to register and visit. Patients may deny or withdraw consent for a visit at any time.
A driver’s license or photo identification is requested upon check in.
Face masks are optional. Patients and visitors may choose to wear a face mask based on their personal preference. Masking may be required in certain high-risk areas as indicated by the signage or as instructed by hospital staff.
Visitors must follow New York State guidelines, maintain social distancing (6 feet apart) and follow all staff instructions regarding specific precautions for each patient.
When visiting hours are over, all visitors must promptly leave the hospital.
