HELEN HAYES HOSPITAL 2015 CLASSIC RACE, FUN RUN & FAMILY FUN DAY: An inspirational athletic event and community day for individuals of all abilities OCT 4, 2015
September 30, 2015Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw, NY will host the 2015 Helen Hayes Hospital Classic 10K Race on Sunday, October 4th. This inspirational annual athletic event brings together runners, wheelchair racers, handcyclists, exoskeleton racers, and other athletes of all abilities to compete on the same challenging race course throughout northern Rockland County in the spirit of sportsmanship and community awareness.
Before a 17-year hiatus which began in 1997, the Helen Hayes Hospital Classic was one of the area’s most highly-anticipated annual racing events, attended by hundreds of top athletes and amateur racers from across the nation. In 2014, Helen Hayes Hospital revived the Classic Race and 1-Mile Fun Run to the delight of the community, drawing over 400 racers to the event and also introducing a Family Fun Activity area for community members and their families.
This year, our Family Fun Activity area also returns, featuring a bouncy castle, face-painting, photos with superheroes and storybook characters, carnival games, food vendors and more. The Niles M. Davies Jr Kids Cup will also be awarded once gain to the Fun Run winner in honor of one of the Classic Race’s staunchest supporters, the late Niles M. Davies Jr. Entrance bracelets to the Family Fun
Activity area are $5 each and can be purchased onsite or online along with 10k Race and Fun Run registration at www.classicrace.racewire.com.

6:30 am – Registration Opens
7:45 am – Registration Closes for 10K
8:15 am – Registration Closes for Fun Run
8:30 am – 10K Race Start
9:15 am – Fun Run Start
9:30 am – Classic Family Fun Activities Start
Awards Ceremony
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation. The Foundation supports an array of patient programs, services and research at the physical rehabilitation hospital.
