Utilization Director Appointed at Rehabilitation Hospital
December 15, 2014Mindy Tallis, RN, BSN, has been appointed the Director of Utilization Management at Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw. Ms. Tallis will oversee both the Admission Department and the Case Management/Discharge Department in her new role at the specialty physical rehabilitation hospital.
Ms. Tallis began her career at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. That experience paved the way for her early promotions into nursing administrative roles. She has held supervisory positions in several acute care hospitals, including the Neurological Institute and Orthopaedic Hospital at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.
Ms. Tallis joined the nursing staff at Helen Hayes Hospital in 1993 and served as the Nurse Manager on the Stroke Rehabilitation Service. Most recently, she was the Clinical Liaison serving patients and referring physicians and hospitals in the Bergen County, New Jersey region.
In her new position, Ms. Tallis will manage the staff of the Admission Referral Center, which coordinates all admissions to inpatient rehabilitation at the Hospital. This includes the Clinical Liaisons, who facilitate the admission process by offering an on-site assessment designed to ensure that patients receive the appropriate level of medical and therapeutic care to meet their needs and rehabilitation goals. Ms. Tallis will also oversee the Case Management Department, whose staff coordinates discharge planning for every patient.
