November 1, 2016November 17, 2016
Honoring WABC’s Diana Williams, Dr. Glenn M. Seliger, Niles M. Davies, Jr. & Elaine Cooney
Award-winning television journalist and WABC anchorwoman Diana Williams will be among the honorees celebrated at the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation, Inc.’s Night of Inspiration on Thursday, November 17th at the Nyack Seaport in Nyack, New York. Williams, who will be presented with the Foundation’s Rose Award for her advocacy efforts on behalf of individuals living with traumatic brain injury, will also serve as guest host of the special event and will share the story of her son’s traumatic brain injury and rehabilitation journey.
The event will also recognize three individuals who have made a tremendous impact on the lives of countless others through the power of rehabilitation at Helen Hayes Hospital:
Glenn M. Seliger, M.D., the Director of the Helen Hayes Hospital Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service, will receive the Rose Award for Excellence in Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Seliger has earned the respect, admiration and affection of patients, families, caregivers, and colleagues for the tremendous care and compassion he consistently provides to individuals dealing with the devastating impact of TBI.
Elaine Cooney will receive the Rose Award for Community Support. Cooney’s generosity has positively impacted the HHH Foundation, and ultimately the hospital’s patients, for over 20 years. As a member of the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, she has given lavishly in support of numerous initiatives and events and was instrumental in the design of the Helen’s Hope Chest thrift shop.
Niles M. Davies, Jr. will be presented posthumously with the Spirit Award. Proprietor of the Rockland landmark, Dr. Davies Farm, Davies was a philanthropist, a passionate supporter of Helen Hayes Hospital and a founder of the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation. The Jan and Niles Davies Learning Center for preschool children at Helen Hayes Hospital is just one testament to his generosity.
The event on November 17 marks the first time in ten years that the Rose Award will be presented. The Award was modeled after the resilient Helen Hayes Rose, a hybrid rose that symbolizes the persistence of Helen Hayes Hospital patients and their ability to thrive in the face of adversity.
The Night of Inspiration extended cocktail reception will begin at 6:30 pm on November 17th at the Nyack Seaport at 21 Burd Street in Nyack. Tickets are available for purchase and proceeds will benefit the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation, which supports patient programs and services at the specialty physical rehabilitation hospital. The theme for attire is black and/or white. For additional information and to purchase tickets, visit helenhayeshospitalfoundation.com or email Grace Canillas at canillasg@helenhayeshosp.org.
