CARDIOPULMONARY TEAM MEMBERS ARE NASHVILLE BOUND …

September 11, 2013

Some of the senior members of the HHH CardioPulmonary Rehabilitation Team are not only attending but will also be presenters at the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) 28th Annual Meeting being held in Nashville, Tennessee, October 3rd – 5th, 2013.

This year’s annual conference dubbed “Best People … Best Practice … Best Performance” proves to be an extraordinary event organized by industry leaders! The conference is supported by long standing pioneers in the field and will feature new and innovative national and international researchers, research methodology, evidence-based practice treatment methods; will showcase and highlight up and coming professional leadership; will demonstrate theory to practice “Hands On” learning opportunities; and will provide up to the minute vendor produced, therapeutically based tools and equipment, as well as new and innovative supplemental oxygen delivery systems, to ensure the best outcomes for our CardioPulmonary patient population.

I will be attending the conference along with my colleagues at HHH, including Dr. John Pellicone, Medical Director and AACVPR Board Member; Dr. Marjorie King, Director, Cardiac Services and Past President of AACVPR; Dr. Steven Lichtman, Director, Outpatient Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Immediate Past President of AACVPR; and Michelle Caravano PT, Lead Physical Therapist for all inpatient and outpatient CardioPulmonary Services.

Michelle and I are presenting three “Hands On” sessions each, focusing on our HHH Pulmonary Rehab Program and balance issues related to the pulmonary patient population. Dr. King will be speaking on “The Future Role of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation in Quality Care.” Undoubtedly, Dr. Pellicone and Dr. Lichtman will be kept infinitely busy with committee meetings and board meetings and if I’m at all lucky, I’ll pass them in the hallways running to their next scheduled meeting!

AACVPR Annual Meetings traditionally attract more than 1,000 national and international healthcare professionals involved in the day to day care of cardiovascular and/or pulmonary rehabilitation patients. These healthcare professionals gather to learn about new technologies and services and to interact with other leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Founded in 1985, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) is dedicated to reducing morbidity, mortality, and disability from cardiovascular and pulmonary disease through education, prevention, rehabilitation, research and disease management. Central to the core mission is an improvement in the quality of life for both patients and their families. AACVPR currently has a membership of approximately 3,000 healthcare professionals.
