Hospital to Host Blood Drive– August 11th
July 29, 2015Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw will host a Blood Drive on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM in the hospital’s auditorium. Hospital employees, volunteers, visitors, and community members are invited to donate blood during this drive. Donors should be healthy, between the ages of 17 and 76, weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated whole blood in the last 56 days, or an ALYX donation in the last 112 days. People age 76 and over may also participate by presenting a doctor’s note. Donors must eat and drink well before donating and present photo or signature I.D.
All eligible donors will receive a mini medical exam onsite, including information about their temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure and hemoglobin level. No appointments are necessary and walk-ins are welcome!
Remember: every two seconds, somebody in the US is in need of a transfusion of blood, a substance for which there is no substitute. Our hospitals rely on the generosity of blood donors, aiming to reach the 41,000 blood donations needed each day. Donating blood is literally giving the gift of life!
