West Haverstraw, NY – The Adapted Sports and Recreation Program at Helen Hayes Hospital will present a free Adapted Gardening Workshop on Saturday, May 19th from 10am-12pm at the hospital’s MacArthur Park. The hands-on program is open to individuals of all ages who would like to learn about tools and techniques that help make gardening enjoyable for individuals of all abilities.
Attendees will receive instruction in the use of adapted gardening tools and how to procure them, as well as tips on how to make accommodations for loss of strength and dexterity when gardening. Planting in garden beds, gardening from a seated position and more will be covered as participants practice their new gardening skills in HHH’s beautiful onsite garden overlooking the Hudson River.
