New York State Department of Health’s Helen Hayes Hospital Receives Joint Commission Accreditation

WEST HAVERSTRAW, NY (August 26, 2026) – The New York State Department of Health’s Helen Hayes Hospital has once again earned a three-year accreditation from The Joint Commission, the nation’s leading healthcare accreditation organization, reaffirming the physical rehabilitation hospital’s commitment to quality, safety, and excellence in patient care.
The accreditation follows a comprehensive, unannounced on-site survey conducted by The Joint Commission, during which surveyors evaluated the physical rehabilitation hospital’s compliance with nationally recognized standards for quality and safety. The review examined key areas including patient care, infection prevention and control, medication management, leadership, emergency preparedness, staff education and training, and care coordination.
By achieving accreditation, Helen Hayes Hospital also earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval®, a nationally recognized symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
