Celebrate Independence at Helen Hayes Hospital hosted by The Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation
June 16, 2011The third annual Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation Independence Celebration will take place in West Haverstraw, NY on Saturday July 2nd at 7:00 pm at Helen Hayes Hospital. (Rain date July 3rd) Attendees will have a remarkable view of the Town of Haverstraw fireworks and a panoramic view of the Hudson River all the way to Croton, while enjoying Helen Hayes Hospital’s beautiful campus.
The Foundation will be selling food such as hotdogs, hamburgers and popcorn, in addition to raffle tickets. The raffle will include prizes of all kinds from restaurant gift cards to beauty supply coupons. Grand raffle prizes include an Apple I-Touch, Garmin navigation system, Blue ray DVD player, adult bicycle and a flat screen television. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation, which supports patient programs and services at the physical rehabilitation hospital.
Plenty of parking will be available for everyone, including ample parking for individuals with disabilities. Attendees should enter from Route 9W or from Chapel Street. Overflow parking with a shuttle will be available from the Garnverville Elementary School if necessary. There is a suggested donation of $5 for parking and guests should bring their own chairs and blankets.
Entertainment will include live music from the “Kootz Band” and for the kids – a “Bouncy House” courtesy of Ed Bleeker. There will also be live Zumba demonstrations, standing and sitting, and a Rockland Mobilecares on site ambulance exhibit.
“The view of the fireworks is indescribable and to top it off parking was made easy” said a local West Haverstraw resident who has been coming to this special event for the past two years. The event is expected to draw hundreds of people and a tremendous amount of volunteers.
