Helen Hayes Hospital Pharmacy Department Receives Awards For Clinical Excellence

The Helen Hayes Hospital Pharmacy Department was presented with two top awards for excellence in pharmacy services at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting in Las Vegas, NV on December 6, 2016. Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS), the nation’s leading provider of pharmacy management services, named the Department the 2016 Clinical Site of the Year and also awarded the Department the 2016 Best Practices Award for the Northeast and Southern region.

The Clinical Site of the Year Award recognizes outstanding achievement and leadership in clinical pharmacy programs and outcomes, supporting all aspects of hospital operations through clinical pharmacy systems and processes and demonstrated leadership. The Best Practices Award—which the Helen Hayes Hospital Pharmacy has received for several years running—recognizes excellence in pharmacy services, with recipients needing a score of 95% or higher on CPS’ annual Operational Audit, which measures compliance in all areas of the medication management process, both internal and external to the Pharmacy.

Dr. Francine Weber, Director of Pharmacy at Helen Hayes Hospital and Shaindy Gluck, Pharmacy Clinical Program Manager accepted the award at the ASHP gathering of over 20,000 pharmacy professionals from around the globe. “We are thrilled that the Pharmacy has been recognized for providing such extraordinary service,” says Edmund Coletti, Chief Executive Officer. “Their hard work, expertise and dedication is a tremendous contribution to the provision of excellent patient care here at HHH.”
