Hospital Hosts Nutrition & Cooking Seminar For Individuals Living with Spinal Cord Injury

West Haverstraw, NY – The Hudson Valley Chapter of United Spinal, headquartered at Helen Hayes Hospital, will offer a Nutritional and Cooking Seminar for the public, students and professionals on October 10, 2018 at 5pm. The 3-hour course will focus on diet and nutrition as it relates to individuals living with spinal cord injuries, exploring nutrition best practices and how food may exacerbate or ameliorate certain conditions and symptoms.

The seminar will be led by a variety of nutritional experts, including HHH’s Beth Duggan, PT, who will present on pain management and Dr. Jesse Little, PsyD, who will discuss the psychological factors affecting eating habits post SCI. Canadian nutritional experts, Kylie James, B.Sc. (OT), CNP and Joanne Smith, B.A., BRT Dip., CNP, authors of Eat Well, Live Well with Spinal Cord Injury, will also present on bowel and bladder health via webcast.

The seminar will run from 5pm-8pm at Helen Hayes Hospital and will cost $20 for United Spinal members or $25 for nonmembers. Dinner and refreshments will be provided and Continuing Education Units are pending for the course.
