Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw is pleased to announce the appointment of John Ficucello, PT, MPT to the position of Program Director of the hospital’s Spinal Cord Injury/Amputee and Stroke Rehabilitation Units. Ficucello joined the staff of Helen Hayes Hospital nine years ago, serving as a physical therapist and advancing to lead physical therapist on the SCI/Amputee service. In his new position as Program Director, Ficucello will lead the SCI/Amputee and Stroke Units, ensuring, among other things, that hospital patients receive excellent and effective treatment and that all programs and staff meet the requirements of regulatory agencies.

Ficucello received his Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton in 2007. He is certified in locomotor training and has extensive experience working with patients with spinal cord injuries, amputations and neurological conditions. He also volunteers often at the hospital’s adapted sports events, serves on the Helen Hayes Hospital Classic Race planning committee, and is the Director of the hospital’s ThinkFirst chapter, a nonprofit organization that provides injury prevention education to local schools and youth organizations.

“I am incredibly grateful, motivated, and excited to have been given this opportunity,” says Ficucello, “and I am fully committed to continuing Helen Hayes Hospital’s long tradition of excellent patient care and dedication to our community.”

Helen Hayes Hospital is one of the nation’s leading specialty physical rehabilitation hospitals.
