“EmpowHERing Women” featuring Lisa Oz

“EmpowHERing Women: an Evening of Learning, Loving & Living,” will take place on Thursday September 23, 2010 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Town & Country Caterers in Congers, New York. The event, which is being co-sponsored by the Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation and the Nyack Hospital Foundation, will spotlight a keynote presentation by author, producer and entrepreneur Lisa Oz and feature a panel discussion on women’s health issues.

The panel discussion will focus on two major women’s health concerns: osteoporosis and breast health. Panelists are: Felicia Cosman, M.D., endocrinologist and osteoporosis specialist at Helen Hayes Hospital, medical director of the National Osteoporosis Foundation and author of “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Osteoporosis will speak on “Strong Bones for Life;” Shari Siegel-Goldman, M.D., radiologist and Director of Breast Imaging at Nyack Hospital will discuss “To Screen or Not to Screen: That is the Question; ” Jeri W. Nieves, Ph.D., epidemiologist and director of the Helen Hayes Hospital Clinical Research Center, a national leader in osteoporosis research, will discuss the topic “Vitamin D & Women’s Health”; Patricia Joseph, M.D., breast surgeon and Director of Breast & Women’s Health Prevention Services at Nyack Hospital will speak on “Breast Health: Taking Care of the Girls.” Dr. Joseph currently serves on the Board of Advisors of the American Cancer Society and has been named a “Top Doctor” by Castle Connolly (1999-2010) and in New York Magazine’s Top Doctors (1999-2010). The panel discussion will include a Q&A session.

The keynote speaker will be Lisa Oz, author of “US: Transforming Ourselves and the Relationships That Matter Most.” Oz is a writer, producer and entrepreneur. With her husband, Dr. Mehmet Oz, she has raised four children, coauthored five New York Times best-selling books, including “YOU: The Owner’s Manual” series, and cohosted a daily radio show on Sirius/XM.

Tickets to the event, which includes the educational panel discussion, a cocktail reception, dinner, keynote presentation and a copy of Oz’s book, are $75.00 and will benefit both the Helen Hayes and Nyack Hospital Foundations.
