From your door to ours- shuttle offers comfort & convenience
June 29, 2011Providing a safe and clean environment, the highest quality patient care and valuable community programs, all with a dose of Helen Hayes Hospitality, has long been our mission. This focus recently led us to implement a new, complimentary HHH Shuttle, which has been a welcome service and an overwhelming success.
Each weekday, the Shuttle circulates throughout HHH’s parking lots, offering a ride to outpatients, visitors and others who are headed to one of the hospital’s two entrances. With a 100+ acre campus and over 400 parking spaces, it can, on some days, be a bit of a walk to the entrance. This may be especially true if there is a special event taking place or if it is a heavily scheduled outpatient care day. Furthermore, we are acutely aware that many people accessing our facility may have mobility limitations or require assistance. While we have an abundance of parking spaces designated for individuals with disabilities, these can fill up.
Enter the Shuttle, which will pick up anyone in any of the HHH parking lots and deliver them directly to the Main entrance or the Admissions entrance. The van is equipped with a motorized lift, making it easily accessible to wheelchair users and individuals unable to climb its three steps. Once on board, riders have a comfortable seat and a quick ride to their destination. The van will also deliver them back to their car when their visit is complete.
On an extremely hot or rainy day, the Shuttle offers our customers a temperature controlled and dry ride, and it always offers an energy preserving option. To make the service even more appealing, the HHH Volunteer Corps graciously stocks the vehicle with a cooler full of bottled water so the driver can provide every rider with a refreshing drink.
So the next time you are visiting the campus, be on the look out for our attractive white van and hop on board. It’s another sample of Helen Hayes Hospitality.
