A Personal Approach to Hand Therapy & Upper Extremity Rehab

The need for outpatient occupational therapy may arise from a traumatic or repetitive injury, an orthopedic disorder, or a chronic or congenital illness. Individuals with a new injury, or those with a progression of a recurring problem that causes limitations in function, can all benefit from outpatient occupational therapy.

The Outpatient Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center provides a comprehensive range of therapeutic services to adults and children, all customized to meet an individual’s specific needs and goals. Outpatient occupational therapy services are provided in dedicated therapy suites outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, all outpatients have access to specialized services within the physical rehabilitation hospital, such as Aquatic Therapy, the Prosthetic Orthotic and Wellness Center, and the Center for Rehabilitation Technology, which may complement their therapeutic program.

Our occupational therapists treat people with a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Upper extremity injury
  • Cumulative trauma
  • Post-surgical rehab of the upper extremities
  • Shoulder pain
  • Sports or work related injuries
  • Fracture or sprain
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Total joint replacement

Our Occupational Therapy Staff

The Outpatient Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center is staffed by a team of highly skilled and licensed occupational therapists. Therapists excel at evaluating a person’s capabilities and developing an individualized treatment plan designed to improve functional performance. Specialists on staff include:

Occupational Therapy Services

The goal of occupational therapy is to enable an individual to carry out their activities of daily living, which include those performed at work, home, school, and the community, as independently as possible. Following a thorough evaluation, which includes an assessment of physical function, as well as daily living skills, if appropriate, an occupational therapist will tailor a treatment plan dedicated to restoring your maximum functional ability. Your occupational therapist will work individually with you and will closely monitor your progress and modify your program as required.
