Wheelchair Checkup Workshop

The Center for Rehabilitation Technology at Helen Hayes Hospital will present a Wheelchair Checkup Workshop from 3-5pm on Thursday, December 17th 2015 at the hospital in West Haverstaw, NY. The program will cover general and preventative wheelchair maintenance, the dos and don’ts of keeping a wheelchair running smoothly, how to troubleshoot a problem and when to call in a professional. Attendees will also receive hands-on wheelchair maintenance instruction and may tour the state-of-the-art Smart Apartment located at the hospital.
Workshop Schedule:
3:00-3:45 pm – Formal presentation
3:45-4:30 pm – Hands-on
4:30-5:00 pm – Smart Apartment Tour
The workshop is free and open to the public, but attendees must preregister by calling 845-786-4587. The first 10 registrants are guaranteed a one-to-one wheelchair consultation. This course is eligible for 0.2 CEUs for professionals.
