New York State Department of Health’s Helen Hayes Hospital Appoints Scott Guevin as New Chief Executive Officer

The New York State Department of Health’s Helen Hayes Hospital, a nationally recognized leader in physical rehabilitation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Guevin, PT, DPT, NHA, MBA, FACHE as the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, effective May 12, 2025.
With more than 25 years of experience in hospital administration, finance, and operations, Dr. Guevin brings deep expertise and a strong strategic vision to fortify Helen Hayes Hospital’s longstanding reputation as a national leader in rehabilitation medicine.
“Dr. Guevin’s exceptional experience in both patient care and health care leadership makes him an outstanding choice to lead Helen Hayes Hospital,” State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald said. “He will be a tremendous asset to the hospital, and his appointment affirms our continued commitment to providing New Yorkers with the highest quality rehabilitation services to support recovery, resilience, and independence.”
Prior to joining Helen Hayes Hospital, Dr. Guevin built a distinguished career advancing care at renowned institutions, including the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation. His experience spans both acute and post-acute settings nationwide, with a consistent focus on maximizing operational outcomes, fostering collaboration across disciplines, and delivering exceptional care to complex patient populations.

Dr. Guevin’s direct care experience as a licensed physical therapist forms the strong foundation for his patient-centered leadership approach. He holds Masters and Doctorate degrees in Physical Therapy, a Master of Business Administration in Finance, and is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Dr. Guevin is also Board Certified in Healthcare Management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
